Energy Lake Campground sits next to an inland lake separated from Lake Barkley by an earthen dam. It offers 13 cabins and 35 well-defined sites in a wooded area with 33 electrical hookups capable of handling tents to motorhomes. Campers have access to a swimming beach area, playground, activity field, canoe and kayak rentals, and hiking trails. Energy Lake is a favorite camping spot for scout troops, school groups, reunions, and team building. Canoe and kayak rentals are available in season, and lake view and wooded campsites are equipped with electrical hookups, meaning they can accommodate RVs and campers.
Campers also have the option of making group reservations for such groups as church and scouts. Energy Lake’s beach and activity area provide even more opportunities for campers only to enjoy the area. Cabins consist of one full size bed and four bunk beds, table, chairs, heating and air conditioning. Bring your own linens, pillows, etc. They are not provided. There is a covered porch with a nearby picnic table and fire ring. There is not a boat ramp in Energy Lake Campground but there are ramps at nearby Energy Dam Day Use Area (less than ¼ mile by paved road from the campground entrance) that offers access to Energy Lake and Lake Barkley. There is a courtesy dock there as well.

What Amenities Are Available?
• Amenities include 13 primitive cabins, 35 camping sites with 33 electrical hookups, Activity Building, Activity Field, dumpster, dump station, fire circle, paved play court, kayak and canoe rentals, recycling station, shower building, restrooms, and water hydrant. Campers can purchase ice, firewood, drinks, snacks, and tick repellent at the gatehouse with a soft drink machine located outside. The Activity Building houses a washer, dryer, and stove. There is a small playground and a campers-only beach and designated swimming area.
Can I Rent the Activity Building?
• Registered campers may rent the activity building for $20 per day.
What's the Capacity of a Single Campsite?
• Each campsite is limited to one camping unit as defined in our general camping regulations and a child’s tent. A child’s tent is counted as one camping unit and will be allowed free of charge with each paid camping unit as long as only children 17 years of age and under occupy it. Inquire at check in. Additional camping units may be added with additional site purchases; all applicable fees apply.
Cabins?
• Energy Lake Campground has thirteen primitive cabins available to reserve. Reserve now.
Inside the cabin:
• These rustic cabins have a heater/air conditioner, ceiling fan with light, small table, folding chairs or benches, and electrical outlets. Each cabin has one full bed and 2 bunk beds. Bunk beds have a twin bed on top and a full size on bottom. Please bring your own linens, pillows, and/or sleeping bags. There’s no smoking or pets allowed and no additional camping units are allowed on the cabin sites.
Outside the cabin:
• Each individual cabin features its own porch, fire ring, and picnic table. Restroom/shower buildings are located in the campground near the cabins. Piney, Hillman Ferry, and Wranglers Campgrounds also have an Outpost for camping supplies and rentals.
Energy Lake is a No-Wake Zone, What's That Mean?
• Any vessel operating in a speed zone posted as “Idle Speed – No Wake” must operate at the minimum speed that allows you to maintain steering and make headway. (This means no wake whatsoever. Possibly 600-900 RPMs depending on your boat). This rule normally restricts these vessels to 4 statute miles per hour or less.
Is the Campground Near Water?
• Yes, most of our campsites are located near the lake.
Are There Any Places to Shower?
• Yes, we do have four shower buildings.
Number of Vehicles or Camping Units?
• Each campsite is limited to one camping unit as defined in our general camping regulations — one tent or one wheeled — and two vehicles.
When is the Gatehouse Open?
• The Gatehouse is open from 9:00am until 5:00pm during the camping season.
Canoe and Kayak Rentals?
• Energy Lake Campground offers daily canoe and kayak rentals from 9 am to 3:00pm, mid May through mid October (depending on the weather) on Energy Lake. $15 per hour usage fee per vessel. Lake conditions and weather permitting. All rentals must be returned by 4:00pm. Paddles and life jackets included. See gatehouse staff. Beach use is permitted for registered campers only.
Water?
• Potable water may be available between March and November by hydrant only.
• Leave firewood at home – do not transport it to campgrounds. Use firewood from local sources.
• If you have moved firewood, burn all of it before leaving your campsite.
Do I Need to Bring My Own Pillows, Linens, Etc?
• Yes, as these items are not provided.
Check In / Check out
• Check-in is 4:30 p.m., you may check in anytime of your arrival date if the site is vacant. Check-out is 3:30 p.m. A 1 night late fee will be assessed. There are no refunds for early check-out.
