The Land Between the lakes 2026 Geocache Challenge with go live on Friday, March 27th at 8am. This year’s theme is “Mississippian Indians” that lived in this area between A.D. 1000 -1500. The cache locations often overlook areas of the lakes where Mississippian villages were once located but are not located directly at Native American archaeological sites. The image on the 2026 Challenge Coin is artwork from a Mississippian Gorget found near Eddyville, KY.
March 28th and 29th are Youth Quota Hunt days for Turkey Season at LBL. All of the caches this year are located relatively close to designated trails or roads, so there is less bushwacking than in some previous years, but please keep an eye out for young hunters. We will try to alert hunters of Geocaches in the areas of the six locations to avoid overlapping priorities. There are 180,000 acres in LBL so there should be enough room for everybody.
