Land Between the Lakes , Ky./Tenn. – July 10, 2019 – U.S. Forest Service officials today restore operations to a popular Land Between the Lakes campground in Trigg County earlier closed in the wake of a June 21 storm.

High winds and a possible tornado caused extensive damage to Energy Lake Campground as weekend campers prepared for dinner. Forest Service staff evacuated the near capacity campground as trees and debris fell on power lines and blocked roads. No injuries were reported but the campground sustained significant damage that caused its prolonged closure. The Energy Lake Campground returns to normal operation today.

Taylor Bay Campground and Star Camp remain closed as the Forest Service continues to remove debris and cut dangerous snagged trees.

The Forest Service reminds visitors that Heat Advisories will force the closure of some
activities.
